Arrest and Deportation to Auschwitz
Under the pseudonym Ikar, Latawiec published caricatures in several Polish periodicals, including Pocieglem and Wroblami na dachu.  January 21, 1941, he was arrested in Charzewicach for some caricatures of Hitler that appeared in several Polish newspapers at that time.  He was imprisoned in Montelupic prison in Kraków and later deported to Auschwitz, where he was assigned prisoner number 11995 and placed in barrack 5.
