Yehuda Bacon
Yehuda Bacon arrived at Auschwitz-Birkenau on December 14, 1943 at the age of fourteen. He was first in Theresienstadt and later in Mauthausen. After the war he became an artist and professor. He currently exhibits his art throughout the world and lives in Israel, where the interview took place in March, 1999.

Thomas Geve
Thomas Geve entered Auschwitz in June, 1943 at the age of thirteen. Two weeks after liberation, he began a series of eighty drawings based on his experiences at Auschwitz. He survived the war and Auschwitz and became an engineer and author. He lives in Israel where the interview took place in March, 1999.

Max Garcia
Max R. Garcia, a Jewish survivor of Portuguese descent, was born in
Amsterdam in 1924. Garcia went into hiding in January 1943, was arrested in July and transported to Auschwitz one month later. During the fall of
1944, he began to perform at SS-authorized cabaret performances, serving as emcee, skit performer, and singer, which helped him to survive the camp. The interview took place in the July of 2000.

Zofia Stępieñ-Bator
Zofia Stępieñ-Bator arrived at Auschwitz on March 1, 1943 at the age of twenty-two. She began making portraits while in the prisoner infirmary. Later she was transferred to Ravensbrück. After the war, she returned to Poland, and has lived in Krakow where the interview took place in July, 1999.

Jozef Szajna
Jozef Szajna was in Auschwitz from 1941 until 1944, when he was transferred to Buchenwald. He began to make artworks in Buchenwald, based on his experiences over three years in Auschwitz. He survived the war and concentration camps and became an artist, theater director, and designer. The interview was conducted in his Warsaw studio in 1998.
